Calling All Directors!
If you’re interested in getting back in the theater game on the production side, consider applying to direct one of the shows in our upcoming season! We will have two openings, one for a cabaret style show during the holiday season, and for the comedy “The Nerd” in early 2022.
Retrospective Cabaret– This Musical Revue will include highlights of songs from recent musical theatre productions showcased at the Guild over the past several seasons. This show will be approached as a “project” and a Director, an Assistant Director, Stage Manager and Musical Director will act as “Project Managers”. These project managers will make a selection of content, invitations and coordination of original cast members and the design and staging of the show. The musical numbers to be included in the revue will be chosen by the production team. We strongly recommend that the Music Director be someone who could also accompany the show. We’d like one to three accompanists with the Music Director.
Performances will be Dec 3-5 & 10-12 2021.
The Nerd– Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, ex-GI Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved has life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you,” so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd,” a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence, and even less tact. Rick stays at his house, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence, a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play.
Auditions will be Jan 3 & 4, 2022.
Performances will be Feb 18-20 & 25-27, 2022.
THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS IS AUGUST 15th, 2021!!
