Auditions for BoeingBoeing, the third production of the 2013-14 season, were held at the Guild on Monday (November 12) and Tuesday (November 13) evenings.

BoeingBoeing is a 1960s French farce featuring the self-styled Parisian lothario, Bernard, who has Italian, German, and American fiancées, each a beautiful airline hostess with frequent “layovers.” He keeps “one up, one down and one pending” until unexpected schedule changes, and advances in airline technology, bring all three to Paris and Bernard’s apartment at the same time. Adding to the problems are Bernard’s befuddled housekeeper, Berthe, who juggles décor and menus for each girl, and an unexpected visit from Robert, an old school friend who gets caught in the middle of Bernard’s romantic revolving doors.

Nineteen people auditioned for the six roles in the Marc Camoletti farce. Bob Jones, Casting Governor, opened the sessions by introducing the members of the Casting Committee. They were Tim Carney, Mike Moseley, Patti Martin, Tiffany Mullins, Jeff Bartos, and Tom Sparrow. Brian Townsend, BoeingBoeing Director and John Sczomak and Kevin Talanges, Assistant Directors, were also introduced. Mike Moseley is the show’s producer.

Townsend’s remarks encouraged the auditionees to “relax, breathe, have fun, and give us your best shot.” He encouraged those auditioning for the women roles to try to use the appropriate accents.

During the course of each evening, auditionees were grouped and asked to read certain scenes. BoeingBoeing is a very funny show and there was much laughter and “breaking up” as the various scenes were read. Every auditionee had at least two opportunities to read.

At the end of the Tuesday evening reading, Townsend thanked the auditionees for trying out and for sharing their talents with the committee. The committee then met to make the hard choices necessary to cast the show. Once the choices were made, Townsend called the people cast to confirm that they would accept the role for which they were chosen. When all the confirmations were in, the cast list was posted on the Guild website.

The cast, as selected by the Casting Committee follows.

Bernard – Alex Gojkov
Robert – Nick Graham
Gloria – Kori Bielaniec
Gretchen – Jennifer Beitzel
Gabriella – Jillian Drapala
Berthe – Margaret Kinnell

The cast will have their first rehearsal, a “read through,” this coming Sunday evening (November 17).

BoeingBoeing goes up the last three weekend in January. Tickets are already available on the website.
